Riverdale, NY – After being held in check over the first two quarters, Hartford used a strong second half to defeat Manhattan 16-4 at Gaelic Park.
With the win, the Hawks improve to 2-2 while the Jaspers fall to 0-5.
In the opening period, junior Matt Garvey (Essex Fells, NJ / West Essex) scored a pair of goals, the second off a Nick Stutler (Jr., Ft. Wright, KY / Covington Catholic) as Manhattan trailed just 4-2 at intermission.
After halftime, Hartford outscored the Jaspers by a 12-2 count with both scores coming off the stick of freshman Parker Giarratana (Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community).
Giarratana also added an assist and now has a team-best nine goals, six assists and 15 points on the year.
Sophomore Michael Zingaro (Cortland Manor, NY / Walter Panas) was outstanding between the pipes for Manhattan, finishing with 19 saves, highlighted by five in a scoreless second quarter.
The Jaspers return to action at Gaelic Park against Delaware on Tuesday, March 8 with opening face off slated for 3:00 pm.
