Miami, FL - Andres Nunez struck out six over 7.0 scoreless innings in leading FIU to a 6-0 win over Manhattan in the series opener between the teams at the FIU Baseball Stadium.

The Golden Panthers improve to 7-9 with the victory while the Jaspers fall to 2-7.

FIU opened the scoring with three runs in the second before adding two in the fifth in taking control of the game.

Sophomore Brendan Bisset (New City, NY / Don Bosco Prep (NJ)) notched a pair of hits to pace a Manhattan effort that produced seven hits.

Freshman LHP Tom Cosgrove (Staten Island, NY / Farrell) struck out six over 6.2 innings of work in falling to 0-2.

Zach Files had three hits and three RBI to lead the way for the Golden Panthers.

The teams will resume their series with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 12 at 2:00 pm.
