RIVERDALE, NY – On Friday night at Draddy Gymnasium, the Manhattan College women's basketball team gave its fans a glimpse of what they might be in store for during the 2016-17 season. Five players scored in double figures, as Manhattan cruised past Nyack, 86-54, in an exhibition game.
The Jaspers led 16-11 after one quarter and extended that advantage to 30-24 at halftime. Manhattan increased the margin to 15 points, 52-37, after three, then recorded 34 points over the final 10 minutes to account for the final score.
Amani Tatum (Cambria Heights, NY) tallied a game-high 18 points, while Taylor Williams (Windsor, CT) had 13 points and eight rebounds. Maeve Parahus (Congers, NY) and KellyAnne O'Reilly (Montville, NJ) finished with 12 points apiece, and Sheridan Heine (Chandler, TX) chipped in 11 points.
Jocelin Wright and Bryanna Brown each registered nine points to pace Nyack. Taylor McCalister pulled down a team-high seven boards for the Warriors.
Manhattan officially opens the Heather Vulin Era next Friday night, when Holy Cross comes to Riverdale for a 7 p.m. contest. This marks the sixth straight season in which the Jaspers will square off with the Crusaders.
