TONIGHT'S GAME
The Jaspers (3-2, 0-0 MAAC) open their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) slate with a matchup against Marist (1-6, 0-0 MAAC) on “90's Night” at Draddy Gymnasium. Manhattan is coming off a 55-50 loss to Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon. The Red Foxes, meanwhile, participated in the Savannah Invitational over Thanksgiving weekend. Marist picked up its first win of the season, 69-64 over North Carolina A&T, on Thanksgiving. The rematch between these teams isn't until the final game of the regular season on Feb. 26, a span of three months between meetings.

ABOUT THE JASPERS
Manhattan dropped a 55-50 decision against Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon. The Jaspers' top four scorers all average between 9.2 and 8.2 points per game. Junior guard Amani Tatum and junior center Kayla Grimme are tied for the team lead with 9.2 points per contest. Tatum also leads the MAAC in assists (5.0 apg) and ranks third in the league in steals (3.2 spg), and her 5.4 rebounds per outing are second-most on the team. Grimme's 7.8 boards a night are a squad-best. She ranks third in the league in rebounding and is the MAAC leader with 3.6 blocks per game. Senior guard Maeve Parahus tallies 8.4 points per contest and is shooting .409 from three-point range. Junior center Mikki Guiton, meanwhile, tallies 8.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per outing. Manhattan will now go a month before returning to Draddy Gymnasium. The Jaspers begin a four-game road trip at defending MAAC champion Iona (2-3, 0-0 MAAC) on Friday night.

ABOUT THE RED FOXES
After starting the season with six straight losses, Marist (1-6, 0-0 MAAC) picked up its first win, a 69-64 decision, over North Carolina A&T on Thursday. Freshman guard Rebekah Hand, the two-time reigining MAAC Rookie of the Week, paces the Red Foxes in both scoring and rebounding. She ranks second in the MAAC with 8.0 rebounds per game and sixth with 14.6 points per contest, and her 1.7 three-pointers per outing are also a team-high. Sophomore guard Claire Oberdorf, the 2016 MAAC Rookie of the Year in softball, contributes 10.1 points and 3.3 boards a night, while sophomore guard Maura Fitzpatrick registers 8.4 points and a team-best 6.0 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Hannah Hand notches 7.9 points per contest to go along with a team-leading 3.1 assists per outing. The Red Foxes begin a span where they play four out of five at home against Saint Peter's (0-5, 0-0 MAAC) on Sunday afternoon.

SERIES HISTORY
Marist posted a 70-58 win over Manhattan when the sides met in the quarterfinals of last season's MAAC Tournament. The road team won both regular season meetings in 2015-16. Marist recorded a 79-73 triumph in Riverdale on Jan. 12, while Manhattan earned a 65-59 victory in Poughkeepsie on Feb. 8, which snapped the Red Foxes' eight-game winning streak in the series. Overall, this is the 54th meeting between the schools, and Marist holds a 29-24 all-time edge.

LAST TIME OUT
The Jaspers battled back from eight points down to take a 49-48 lead with 1:16 remaining on Saturday, but Stony Brook made seven straight free throws down the stretch to come away with a 55-50 victory at Draddy Gymnasium. It was 10-10 after one quarter and 25-23 Manhattan at halftime. Stony Brook used an 8-0 run midway through the third period to open up a 35-27 advantage, and the Seawolves led 39-31 entering the final quarter. Manhattan scored the first five points of the stanza to pull within three, 39-36, then went on an 8-0 spurt to take a one-point lead, 49-48. After Stony Brook regained the lead, the Seawolves closed out the victory at the free throw line. Amani Tatum finished with 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Kayla Grimme, meanwhile, had 10 points to go along with five boards and six blocks.

EARLY START
Tonight's game is the MAAC opener for both Manhattan and Marist. This marks the first time in program history that the Jaspers will play a conference game in the month of November. In fact, this marks the first time in conference history that MAAC play gets underway in November. The previous program record for earliest MAAC game was a matchup with Iona on Dec. 2, 2004.

MARIST CONNECTIONS
Assistant Coach Dominique Bryant came to Manhattan after three years on the Marist staff. The Red Foxes won the MAAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament during her first season in Poughkeepsie (2013-14), then qualified for the Women's NIT in 2014-15.
