TODAY'S GAME
The Jaspers (2-1) conclude their two-game road trip by visiting Brown (2-2) on Tuesday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The contest can be seen on the Ivy League Digital Network, as well as Facebook Live. Manhattan is coming off its first loss of the season, 73-39 at Buffalo on Saturday afternoon. The Bears, meanwhile, suffered a 67-62 defeat against Colgate in their last outing. Brown is one of two Ivy League opponents on Manhattan's 2016-17 schedule. The Jaspers posted a 63-57 home win over Yale on Nov. 15.
ABOUT THE JASPERS
Manhattan (2-1) is coming off its first loss of the season, a 73-39 defeat at Buffalo on Saturday afternoon. Senior guard Maeve Parahus leads the Jaspers in scoring with an average of 11.7 points per game. She drains 2.7 three-pointers per game, third-most in the MAAC, and is shooting .500 from beyond the arc. Junior guard Amani Tatum contributes 11.3 points per outing to go along with 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.3 steals a night. She's currently tied for second in the MAAC in both assists and steals. Senior center Mikki Guiton tallies 8.0 points and 4.7 boards per contest, while senior center Kayla Grimme paces Manhattan and ranks third in the conference with 8.0 rebounds per game. She also records 2.8 blocks per contest, which is tied for the league lead. After playing two straight away from Draddy Gymnasium, the Jaspers return home on Saturday for a matchup with Stony Brook (0-3).
ABOUT THE BEARS
After winning each of its first two contests, Brown (2-2) is currently on a two-game losing streak. Four different Bears are averaging double-figures in the scoring column, led by sophomore guard Taylor Will's 18.5 points per game. She also averages 2.8 steals and 2. 0 assists per outing. Sophomore guard Shayna Mehta contributes 14.8 points per contest and is shooting .500 from three-point range. Freshman guard/forward Justine Gaziano records 13.0 points a night, while sophomore forward Erika Steeves averages jsut short of a double-double with 11.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. She also paces the Bears with 2.8 assists per outing. Sophomore forward Mary Butler, meanwhile, grabs 5.3 boards per contest to go along with 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals a night. The Bears dropped a 67-62 decision to Colgate on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, Brown visits Binghamton (1-3) for its only road contest in a five-game span.
SERIES HISTORY
Last season on Nov. 29, the Jaspers notched an 80-56 victory over the Bears at Draddy Gymnasium. That game renewed a series that had been dormant for 15 years. In the previous matchup between the schools, Manhattan knocked off Brown by an 83-80 count at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Nov. 29, 2000. Manhattan has won three of the four meetings all-time, with Brown's only victory, a 72-68 triumph, coming on Dec. 4, 1983.
LAST TIME OUT
Manhattan played its first road game of the season on Saturday afternoon and suffered a 73-39 loss to defending Mid-American Conference champion Buffalo at Alumni Arena. The Jaspers scored the first two points of the game on a pair of Amani Tatum free throws, but it was all Buffalo from there, as the Bulls led 21-9 after one quarter and 40-16 at halftime. KellyAnne O'Reilly had seven points during an 8-2 stretch late in the third quarter, and her jumper capped the scoring in Buffalo's 73-39 victory, as the Bulls handed the Jaspers their first loss of the season. O'Reilly paced the Jaspers with nine points in the contest. Tatum finished with seven points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals, while Taylor Williams secured six boards. Kayla Grimme added five rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
