West Hartford, CT - Junior Lizzy Carlson (Auburn, MA / Auburn) headed in the lone goal of the match in the 77th minute off a pass from sophomore Nicole Aylmer (Garnerville, NY / North Rockland) to lift Manhattan to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hartford at Al-Marzook Field.

With the win, the Jaspers improve to 2-1 while the Hawks fall to 1-1.

Hartford outshot Manhattan by a 21-3 count while posting a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks but was unable to figure out Kristen Skonieczny (Lagrangeville, NY / Arlington). The senior goalkeeper notched four saves while spearheading the Jasper defense in notching her 10th career shutout, including the second of the year.

After failing to record a shot in the first half, sophomore Dylan Burns (Manchester, CT / Manchester) flushed one wide right just moments after halftime before junior Erica Modena (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) missed a point-black attempt wide left in the 62nd minute. 

After their first two attempts went wide, the visitors converted on attempt number three when Carlson converted Aylmer's cross to provide what would prove to be the only score of the match.

Manhattan returns to action on Thursday, September 3 at NJIT with first kick slated for 7:00 pm.
