PRINCETON, N.J. – Phil Ragan (Belmar, N.J.) of the Manhattan College men's track & field team had one last thing to do before graduating.  He received his bachelor's degree during the College's 173rd Commencement on Sunday afternoon, just hours after competing in the IC4A Outdoor Championships at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium.  Ragan finished in eighth place with a toss of 61.21 meters (200 feet, 10 inches).

With that eighth-place showing, he added one point to Manhattan's team total.  The Jaspers ended up 18th in the team standings with 21.50 points.  LIU Brooklyn earned the IC4A team title with 60 points.

Manhattan had just two other competitors in action on the final day of the meet.  Clement Gicquel (Rennes, France) also took part in the javelin and got out to a distance of 52.23 m (171'4), which was good for 22nd place.  Meanwhile, Bobby Gebhard (Saddle River, N.J.) took 14th in the triple jump (14.65 m, 48'0¾).

The Jasper women completed their participation at the ECAC Championships on Saturday.  With six points, Manhattan finished 38th in the team standings.  George Mason captured the ECAC team championship with 53 points.

Up next for Manhattan is the NCAA East Preliminary Round, which takes place in Jacksonville, Fla., from May 28-30.  Only the top 48 athletes in the region in each event qualify to compete in Jacksonville, with the top 12 finishers then advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.  Ragan, who qualified for NCAA Prelims last year, is one of six Jaspers currently in a position to make this year's field.
