ALBANY, N.Y. - The Manhattan women's lacrosse team fell to Albany on Wednesday afternoon at the Adirondack Sports Complex in upstate New York.
With the loss, the Jaspers move to 1-2 on the season. Albany improves to 2-0 with the win.
Manhattan netted four goals in the first half and three in the second, but couldn't keep pace the the high-powered Great Danes' attack. Albany recorded its second consecutive 20-goal effort, as the squad came away with a 25-7 victory.
For the Jaspers, junior captain Megan Yarusso (Brewster, N.Y. / Brewster) recorded a hat trick and now shares the team lead in points with senior Donna Jo DiNorcia (Verona, N.J. / Verona). Both players have eight points on the season. DiNorcia tallied two goals on the afternoon.
Junior captain Kaitlyn Cunningham (Spring Lake, N.J. / Red Bank Catholic) and junior Stefanie Ranagan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y. / Yorktown) also scored for Manhattan.
Junior Rachel Bowles scored a game-high five goals for Albany, while sophomore Dakotah Savitcheff struck for four goals. Senior Maureen Keggins had a game-high eight points (2G, 6A), while freshman Alie Jimerson registered six points (3G, 3A) for the Great Danes.
The Jaspers return to action on Saturday, Feb. 28, when they travel to Bryant for a 1 p.m. match in Rhode Island.
