HUNTINGTON, N.Y. - The Manhattan golf team placed third with a team score of 302 (+22) at the single day Jasper Invitational on Monday afternoon. The competition, held at the par-70 Huntington Country Club, was an 18-hole event.
Junior Jon Keyes (Bayport, N.Y. / Bayport-Blue Point) carded the low round for the Jaspers and second best score of all golfers with a 70 (E). Sophomore Ryan Lynch (Boynton Beach, Fla. / Park Vista) posted a 76 (+6) to finish the day with Manhattan's second lowest total.
Sophomore Jonny Slater (Old Tappan, N.J. / Don Bosco Prep) shot a 77 (+7).
Seniors Michael Giannico (Blue Point, N.Y. / Bayport-Blue Point) and Ross Ketner (Huntington, N.Y. / St. Anthony's) and sophomore Johnny Schob (Huntington, N.Y. / Salisbury School) turned in identical rounds of 78 (+8) in the tournament.
Hofstra earned first place at the invitational with a team total of 293 (+23). Monmouth placed second at 297 (+27).
The Jaspers will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 17, when they play Round 1 of the 36-hole Lehigh Invitational at the Saucon Valley Country Club.
