HAMDEN, Conn. - Manhattan (8-9; 5-3 MAAC) makes the short trek to Quinnipiac (10-8; 4-5 MAAC) on Friday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. in a game that will be televised nationally via ESPNU.

TOP STORYLINES 
#1 - The Jaspers will be looking for their third-straight road victory while also rebounding from Sunday's heartbreaking overtime loss to Rider.


#2 - Shane Richards will look to continue his impressive play of late as the junior guard has hit for at least 20 points in each of his last three games.

#3 - Each of Manhattan's last five games have been decided by 10 points or less while six of the Bobcats' last seven games have been decided by the same standard.

QUICK HITS
* The Jaspers' last two games have gone to overtime, marking the first occurrence since the 1986-1987 season.


* Manhattan has won two-straight on the road after starting the season 0-6 in true road action. 

* Quinnipiac leads the all-time series by a 2-1 count and won both regular season meetings a year ago before the Jaspers posted a decisive 87-68 win in the MAAC semifinals.

* In the aforementioned victory, senior Emmy Andujar exploded for 21 points off the bench while also adding six rebounds and two assists. 

* Last year against QU, Andujar averaged 11.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while Richards averaged 9.3 each time out while shooting 60.0 percent (6-for-10) from deep.

* Manhattan continues to rank fifth nationally with 17.2 forced turnovers per game and has pressured the opposition into at least 16 miscues in 12 of its 17 games while also placing 66th nationally with a +1.9 turnover margin.

* The Jaspers shot a season-best matching 50.0 percent (26-of-52) against Rider and made good on least 70 percent of its free throws for the fourth-straight game after doing so just twice in the previous 13 games. 

* Manhattan is a perfect 6-0 when leading at the half and 6-1 when holding an advantage with five minutes to play.

* Friday's game marks the first of two currently scheduled appearances on ESPNU for the Jaspers and will be the eighth time they have appeared on a division of ESPN this season. Additionally, Manhattan went 2-1 last year when playing on ESPNU and is 9-10, all-time, when playing on the channel.

* Andujar and Richards each notched 21 points in the Jaspers' last game and have each hit for at least 20 in each of the last two games  and were joined in double-figures against Rider by junior Ashton Pankey, who delivered 18 points and a game-high seven rebounds against Rider.

* The trio netted 60 points against the Broncs while shooting 55.3 percent (21-for-38) from the field and have now each hit for double-figures in the same game on three occasions.

* Andujar (5), Richards (5) and Pankey (1) have also combined for 11 20-point games while accounting for 31 of Manhattan's 40 double-figure scoring performances.

* Andujar, who went for a season-high 22 points against Saint Peter's the previous time out, has taken his game to another level over the last four games, averaging 20.0 points, 5.8 rebounds,3.3 assists and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 52.2 percent (24-for-46) from the floor.

* The Rice graduate also recently became the first player in school history with 1,000 points, 600 rebounds, 300 assists and 100 steals and leads the Jaspers and ranks among the MAAC leaders in scoring (14.9-6th), rebounding (6.8-5th), assists (3.1-6th), steals (1.8-6th), offensive rebounds (2.6-4th) and defensive rebounds (4.3-10th).

* Andujar is also shooting 51.5 percent (6th MAAC) from the floor while posting a 0.8 assist/turnover ratio (0.8-8th).

* Richards' 21-point outing against Rider marked his third-straight game of at least 20 points while helping give Manhattan had back-to-back games with two 20-point scorers for the first time since the 2010-2011 season.

* Over his last five games, Richards, who played a career-high 44 minutes against Rider, is averaging 18.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 47.5 percent (28-for-59) from the floor, including 43.2 percent (19-for-44) from deep, and 88.9 percent (16-for-18) from the line. 

* Richards ranks among the MAAC leaders in scoring (13.5 ppg-13th), three pointers/game (2.9-3rd), three-point field goal percentage (.391-10th), free throw percentage (.766-12th) and minutes per game (32.5-10th).

* For his career, Richards has made good on a school-record 192 three pointers, including converting on at least three triples in 40 of his 82 games, and at least four in 20 games.

* Pankey preceded his 18-point performance against Rider with eight points and five rebounds - all of which came after halftime - at Saint Peter's and has hit for at least 18 points in three of the last four games. During that time, he is averaging 15.8 points and 7.0 rebounds each time out while shooting  59.4 percent (19-for-32) from the floor and 78.1 percent (25-for-32) from the line.

* The Maryland transfer ranks among the league leaders in scoring (11.3 ppg-19th), rebounding (6.5-8th), field goal percentage (.519-6th), blocks (1.2-6th), offensive rebounds (2.4-7th) and defensive rebounds (4.1-12th). Additionally, during league play Pankey is pulling down a MAAC-best 3.0 offensive rebounds per game.

* Over the last eight games (Manhattan 6-2), Andujar is averaging a team-best 17.0 points per game while Richards is checking in at 16.5 points each time out while knocking down 46.2 percent (30-for-65) from deep with four 20-point games and has converted at least three triples seven times.

* Over the last five minutes of the aforementioned eight-game stretch, the Jaspers have converted on 77.8 percent (56-for-72) from the line, highlighted by Richards, who is hitting on a blistering 92.9 percent (13-for-14). 

* Manhattan has also made good on 50.0 percent or better from the field after halftime in four of those games after failing to do so in any of its first nine games.

* Also during that time, the Jaspers are limiting opposing three-point shooters to just 29.1 percent (34-for-117) from deep and currently rank first in the MAAC and 51st nationally in three-point defense (.305).

* Senior RaShawn Stores handed out five assists, against just one turnover, against Rider after notching eight points, three assists and three steals over 37 minutes of the win at Saint Peter's. Over his last seven games, Stores is averaging 6.9 points, 3.7 assists and 1.6 steals each time out while posting a sterling 4.3 assist/turnover ratio.

* During MAAC play, Stores has recorded a league-leading 4.3 assist/turnover ratio while also ranking among the league-leaders in assists (3.7-5th) and steals (1.6-11th)

* Sophomore Tyler Wilson had a solid game off the bench against Rider, finishing with five assists and has now handed out at least four on eight occasions. Wilson continues to rank among the MAAC leaders in assists (3.1-7th), steals (1.2-13th) and assist/turnover ratio (1.3-6th).

* Despite coming off the bench, senior Donovan Kates is fifth on the team with 25.0 minutes per game and has turned into the Jaspers' 'glue guy.' The Kentucky native had  seven points against Rider and has missed just one game over his four years at Manhattan. 

* Kates became the sixth different Jasper to miss a game this season against Morgan State. Kates (1), Stores (2), sophomore Jermaine Lawrence (4), classmate Carlton Allen (10), freshman Samson Usilo (17) and classmate Zane Waterman (5) have combined to miss 39 games this season. 

* Rider shot 50.0 percent in posting its three-point overtime win as Manhattan has now allowed opposing offenses to convert on at least 50.0 percent of their shots after not allowing an opponent to hit the mark a year ago. The Jaspers also lost for the first time at home while seeing their eight-game Draddy Gymnasium winning streak snapped.

* Since returning to Riverdale, head coach Steve Masiello has led the Manhattan to the program's fourth MAAC Championship as well as a pair of 20-plus win campaigns. In his first tenure, he was a part of two MAAC Championships and three 20-plus win seasons. All told, Masiello has been a member of three of the Jaspers' four MAAC Championship teams and five of their 12 20-win seasons while accruing a 151-84 record.

* In his 19th season as either a player or a coach, Masiello has a career collegiate record of 429-194, including 308-173 on the sidelines, with one National Title, two National Championship appearances, two Final Four appearances, six Elite Eight berths, seven conference championships, 12 NCAA Tournament appearances and 15 20-win seasons.

KEY MANHATTAN MATCH-UPS
* The Glass - Manhattan will have its work cut out for it on the glass against a Quinnipiac unit that leads the Division I ranks in rebounding margin with a +13.5 mark. Senior forward Ousmane Drame leads the charge with a MAAC-best 10.5 rebounds per game and will need to be contained.
* Contain Hearst - Senior Guard Zaid Hearst is notching a team-best 19.9 points per game and averaged 20.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists against the Jaspers a year ago.
* Three-Point Defense - The Jaspers check in with the best three-point defense (.305) in the league and will be facing a Bobcat squad that is averaging just 4.8 triples per game. 
* The Line- Manhattan must play smart defensive basketball and not turn the game into a free throw contest. Quinnipiac has converted on at least 70 percent from the line in each of its last 17 games en route to posting a MAAC-best 77.3 percent mark from the charity stripe.

MANHATTAN-SAINT PETER'S NOTES
* Manhattan won both meetings against Saint Peter's thanks to the play of Andujar, who averaged 21.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals each time out.
* The Jasper defense limited Saint Peter's to just 16.7 percent (5-for-30) shooting from long range.
* In the teams' second meeting, Manhattan won for just the second time this year on the road and when trailing at the half.
* Masiello is now 9-0, all-time, against the Peacocks since assuming the head coaching reigns in 2011-2012 and was 7-2 against SPU as an assistant during his first tenure in Riverdale. 
* He is also 8-0 when coaching in New Jersey and will have two more games in the Garden State this season.
* During their current nine-game winning streak against the Peacocks, the Jaspers have been victorious by an average of 12.8 ppg while holding Saint Peter's to less than 70 points in each game.

TURN THE RECORD OVER, I'LL CATCH YA ON THE FLIP SIDE
Manhattan forced a season-high matching 23 turnovers in its 84-75 win over Niagara and ranks fifth nationally with 17.2 forced turnovers per game.

LAWRENCE NOTCHES CAREER-HIGH
Lawrence, a Cincinnati transfer, scored a career-high 11 points with five rebounds and two blocks against Niagara and is averaging 4.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.8 blocks (14th) per games.

HIGH FIVE
Stores rounded out a Jasper effort that saw five players hit for double-figures against Niagara with his second-straight 10-point performance while marking the first time since last year's opener at La Salle that Manhattan place five in double-digits.

RICHARDS GETS MANHATTAN BACK ON TRACK
After going 12-4 in true road games a year ago, the Jaspers won their first road game of the year at Canisius by a 63-60 count thanks to a game-high 18 points and a career-best 10 rebounds from Richards. Fueled by his five three pointers and first career double-double, the Jaspers also made good on 42.9 percent (9-for-21) from deep, including 50.0 percent (7-for-14) after halftime. 

MORE RICHARDS
Richards' first career double-double and his 10 rebounds marked the fourth time a Manhattan has achieved both standards this season. His five triples also represent the first time in his career that he has converted at least three in four-straight games  

DYK? WITH THREE TRIPLES VS. QUINNIPIAC ...
Richards will have connected on at least three in four games for the second time in his career.

HOME SWEET HOME
The Jaspers are in the midst of a six-game stretch that includes four home games after playing 11 of their first 13 games in different venues.
I FINALLY GOT THE VENUE I WANTED
Manhattan will play in its 13th different venue at Quinnipiac when the Jaspers take the court at the TD Bank Center.

SECOND-HALF IMPROVEMENT
Andujar (8.4 ppg - 5.9 ppg) and Pankey (6.9 ppg - 4.2 ppg) have improved their scoring by more than two points after halftime this season compared to the first half. 
START ME UP
Sophomore Rich Williams made his first start of the year against Marist and responded with 13 points and is averaging 5.0 points per game.
NATIONALLY SPEAKING
Williams' alley oop dunk off a pass from Andujar at UMass with 0.8 seconds forced overtime while garnering top billing on SportsCenter's top plays for Tuesday, Nov. 18. 

MANHATTAN SIGNS TWO FOR NEXT SEASON
Masiello has announced the signing of  Nigeria natives Vincent Eze (6-8, 220) of Putnam Science (Conn.) and Akintoye Ojo (6-10, 230) of Cardinal Hayes for next season. 
RICHARDS LIGHTS IT UP FROM DOWNTOWN
Richards, the 2012-2013 MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year matched the single-season Manhattan school record with 77 three pointers a year ago and is currently third in the league and 27th nationally with 2.94 threes per game. He is first in school history with 187 career triples after breaking the record against Morgan State.
NEW YORK STATE OF MIND
The Jaspers boasts a roster of eight New York City natives and returns two starters and five key reserves that averaged at least 10 minutes a game a year ago.

109TH SEASON OF JASPERS BASKETBALL
In its 109th season, the Manhattan men's basketball program boasts a 1316-1165 overall record and 263-278 MAAC mark in 35 seasons as a conference member. The Jaspers' storied men's basketball team was established in 1904-05 and served a two-year hiatus during the 1943-44 and 1944-45 season due to World War II.
