MONTREAL, Que. – The Manhattan College women's basketball team concluded its four-game Canadian tour in style on Friday night, defeating l'Universitie du Quebec a Montreal (UQAM) 69-55 at le Centre Sportif. Manhattan finished the trip with a 3-1 record.
UQAM got off to a good start and led 19-10 after the first quarter. However, a three-pointer by Blake Underhill (Edgewater, N.J.) as the period ended swung the momentum in Manhattan's favor, and the Jaspers outscored the Citadins 18-11 in the second quarter to cut their margin to two points, 30-28 at halftime. Manhattan took the lead midway through the third quarter and extended that advantage to 51-42 by the end of the period. The Jaspers then won the fourth quarter 18-13 to seal a 69-55 win.
Shayna Ericksen (Long Valley, N.J.) notched a game-high 22 points, while Ashley Stec (Cazenovia, N.Y.) finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Juliette Delaune led UQAM with 13 points, and Sara Cabana added 11 points for the Citadins.
