OTTAWA, Ont. – The Manhattan College women's basketball team improved to 2-0 on its Canadian tour with a 67-47 victory over Carleton University at the Ravens' Nest on Tuesday night.
Carleton took an early lead, but Manhattan ended the first quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 14-10 lead. The back-and-forth play continued in the second quarter, and the teams went into halftime knotted at 26-26. The Jaspers used a late run again in the third quarter to open up a 42-37 advantage entering the final period. Manhattan dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring Carleton 25-10 to close out a 67-47 triumph.
Three Jaspers scored in double figures, led by 15 points from Taylor Williams (Windsor, Conn.). Jacqui Thompson (Southampton, Pa.) added 14 points, while Shayna Ericksen (Long Valley, N.J.) notched 12 points and seven rebounds.
For Carleton, Lindsay Shotbolt recorded a game-high 22 points to go along with nine rebounds. Lindsay Suprunchuk grabbed 10 rebounds for the Ravens.
This marked Manhattan's second all-time win over Carleton. The Jaspers defeated the Ravens 76-65 during their 2010 visit to Ottawa.
After a day off on Wednesday, the Jaspers continue their Canadian tour on Thursday, when they return to Montreal for a matchup with McGill University.
