RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Four different players scored in double figures for Manhattan (11-2, 4-0 MAAC) and the Jaspers limited Fairfield to 36.7 percent shooting from the field in a 83-57 victory over the Stags at Draddy Gym on Saturday night.

After the Jaspers led from start to finish in their previous game with Saint Peter's, Manhattan led for all but the first 1:13 of the game when the Stags took a 2-0 lead. George Beamon hit a corner triple at the 18:47 mark of the first half, igniting a 13-2 Manhattan run over the next four minutes.

Manhattan led 43-28 at halftime and held Fairfield to 30.6 percent shooting from the field in the first 20 minutes. Beamon had 15 of his game-high 19 in the first half.

After Malcolm Gilbert sank a jumper on Fairfield's first possession of the second half, RaShawn Stores answered with a three-pointer to give Manhattan a 46-30 advantage. With 14 minutes to play, Maurice Barrow hit consecutive three-pointers sandwiched around a Shane Richards triple to get the Stags within 14, 53-39.

Manhattan then went on a 12-0 run during the next five minutes to pull away from the Stags. During that run, Manhattan caused six Fairfield turnovers.

"I thought our defense set the tone and got us some easy transition buckets," head coach Steve Masiello said after the game. "It led to some good things, and I thought we handled it like a mature, experienced team."

Every player who dressed for the Jaspers saw at least eight minutes and all 11 Jaspers scored to provide Manhattan's largest margin of victory this season.

The Jaspers are back in action on Thursday, January 9 at Quinnipiac in a game that will be televised on SportsNet New York (SNY). Please note that tipoff is at 7:30 p.m., a half hour later than the originally scheduled start time.
