Manhattan Drops Exhibition On Overtime Buzzer-Beater

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Angelina Carvery sank a three-pointer as time expired in overtime to lift Saint Mary's University to an 85-84 victory over the Manhattan College women's basketball team in exhibition action at Draddy Gymnasium on Saturday night.  Saint Mary's, which went 18-2 and finished third in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) national tournament last season, has now won all six of its games this year.

Manhattan led 40-34 at halftime, and the contest was knotted, 76-76, at the end of regulation.

Monica Roeder (Marlton, N.J.) led the Jaspers with 22 points, while Nicole Isaacs (Fair Haven, N.J.) added 17 points.  Shayna Ericksen (Long Valley, N.J.) finished one rebound shy of a double-double, tallying 11 points and nine boards.

Justine Colley, last year's Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Player of the Year and a member of the Canadian national team, recorded 33 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies.  Rachelle Coward contributed 24 points and Emily Jamieson added 13 in the winning effort.

The Jaspers begin the 2013-14 regular season with a road game against Fairleigh Dickinson next Sunday at 7 p.m.
