JASPERS VS. HORNETS
Manhattan (1-3) continues its three-game homestand with this afternoon's matchup against Delaware State (1-3) at Draddy Gymnasium.  The Jaspers, who are looking to snap a three-game skid, are coming off a 72-62 loss to La Salle in their home opener on Sunday.  The Hornets, meanwhile, dropped an 87-71 decision at Albany on Sunday.  Today's contest is the opener of a Manhattan basketball doubleheader.  Following the women's game, the Jasper men take on rival Fordham in the annual “Battle of the Bronx” at 7 p.m.

ABOUT MANHATTAN
The Jaspers (1-3) dropped their third straight, 72-62 to La Salle, in their home opener on Sunday afternoon.  Senior guard Monica Roeder had a game-high 18 points against La Salle and is averaging 22.5 points in Mahattan's last two contests.  For the season, Roeder tallies 17.3 points per game, and her 6.0 rebounds per outing are also a team-high.  Freshman center Kayla Grimme ranks second on the squad in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 8.8 points and 5.8 boards a night.  Junior guard Nicole Isaacs, meanwhile, chips in 8.5 points an outing and sophomore forward Shayna Ericksen pulls down 4.0 rebounds per contest.  Senior guard Allison Skrec ranks third in the MAAC with 6.3 assists per game.  Today's contest against Delaware State is the opener of a Manhattan basketball doubleheader, as the men's team takes on Fordham following the women's game.  Manhattan concludes its three-game homestand with a 2 p.m. matchup against Holy Cross on Sunday.

ABOUT DELAWARE STATE
Despite averaging 72.8 points per game as a team, the Hornets (1-3) have dropped three of their first four contests, including an 87-71 loss at Albany on Sunday.  Junior forward Tierra Hawkins is averaging a double-double this season.  She records 22.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.  Hawkins also notches 1.5 blocks per contest.  Freshman guard Raven Bankston pours in 20.0 points per game, while also handing out 2.8 assists a night.  Senior guard/forward Deanna Harmon is third on the squad in both scoring and rebounding, posting 10.0 points and 6.5 boards per outing.  She's also Delaware State's leader in steals (2.3 per game).  Freshman guard Raine Bankston contributes 9.0 points and 3.3 assists a night, and junior guard Jade Washington hands out a team-high 4.0 assists per game.  Freshman forward Tylinn Carter grabs 6.8 rebounds per contest off the bench.  Delaware State returns home to face George Mason on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

SERIES HISTORY
The Jaspers are meeting Delaware State for just the third time in program history.  The last time the squads faced off was on Dec. 21, 1999, when the Jaspers notched an 83-75 triumph at Draddy Gymnasium.  The only other previous contest was a 59-56 Manhattan victory in Riverdale on Dec. 2, 1990.  Manhattan's last game against a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference was a 61-49 win at Maryland Eastern Shore on Dec. 6, 2010.

LA SALLE 72, MANHATTAN 62
The Jaspers suffered a 72-62 defeat against La Salle in their home opener on Sunday afternoon.  Manhattan led 30-28 at halftime and extended that advantage to eight points, 43-35, with 13:36 remaining in the contest.  La Salle responded with 10 points in less than a minute to go in front 45-43 before Kayla Grimme tied it with a layup.  However, the Explorers scored the next seven points to open up a 52-45 lead.  Manhattan once again rallied back, pulling within one at 54-53 with 6:54 to go, but La Salle countered with an 11-2 spurt that extended its cushion to 10 points, 65-55, with 2:22 left.  That 10-point margin would prove to be the margin of victory in La Salle's 72-62 triumph.  Monica Roeder tallied a game-high 18 points, while Ashley Stec matched her career-high with 14 points.  Allison Skrec handed out seven assists to go along with nine points.
