JASPERS VS. TIGERS
The Jaspers (1-0) play their second straight road game to start the season tonight against Towson (0-2) at SECU Arena. Manhattan, which hasn't started the season 2-0 since 2003-04, is coming off a 73-63 victory at Fairleigh Dickinson in its opener on Sunday night. Towson is still looking for its first victory of the 2013-14 campaign. The Tigers started the season with a 56-55 loss to Navy, then suffered a 69-46 defeat at NC State on Monday night. Manhattan concludes its three-game road trip with a visit to Army on Wednesday.

Manhattan (1-0) began the season with a 73-63 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday night. It was the Jaspers' first season-opening win since the 2010-11 campaign, and Manhattan is looking for its first 2-0 start since the 2003-04 season. Junior guard Nicole Isaacs led the way for the Jaspers against Fairleigh Dickinson, tallying a career-high 19 points on five three-pointers. Senior guard Monica Roeder, a Preseason Second Team All-MAAC selection, added 13 points, while sophomore forward Shayna Ericken notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman center Kayla Grimme, meanwhile, got the start in her collegiate debut and tallied seven points to go along with four rebounds and two assists. Manhattan also distributed an impressive 22 assists against the Knights, with senior guard Allison Skrec distributing seven helpers. The Jaspers conclude their season-opening three-game road trip with a visit to Army on Wednesday night.
ABOUT TOWSON
The Tigers (0-2) are still looking for their first victory after dropping their first two games to Navy and NC State. Senior guard Tanisha McTiller, a Preseason First Team All-CAA selection, has scored 21 points in each of Towson's first two contests this season. She also leads the team in both rebounding and steals, averaging 8.5 boards and 2.5 steals a night. Senior forward Nyree Williams was an honorable mention Preseason All-CAA choice. She's currently third on the team with 6.0 rebounds per outing. Junior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen ranks second on the squad in both scoring and rebounding. Hines-Allen posts 13.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Dominique Johnson, meanwhile, distributes a team-best 4.0 assists per contest. Towson, which was picked fourth in the CAA Preseason Poll, is in its first season under Head Coach Niki Reid Geckeler. The Tigers visit George Mason on Tuesday night before returning home for two straight.
SERIES HISTORY
Manhattan is meeting Towson for just the third time ever tonight, and the first time in Maryland. Last season, the Jaspers and Tigers met in the opener on Nov. 10, and Towson came away with a 63-60 overtime victory at Draddy Gymnasium. In the only other previous meeting between the schools, the Jaspers defeated the Tigers 60-44 on Nov. 29, 1987 during the Siena Tournament.
MANHATTAN 73, FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON 63
Led by a career-high 19 points from Nicole Isaacs, the Jaspers opened the season with a 73-63 victory at Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday night. Isaacs drained five three-pointers in the contest, including one early in the second half that gave Manhattan a 38-33 lead. She drained another trey at the 12:00 mark to ignite a 12-3 run that turned a 50-47 lead into a 12-point, 62-50 advantage. The Knights scored the next five points to trim its deficit to seven at 62-55 with 6:51 left, but that's as close as Fairleigh Dickinson would get. Isaacs led three Jaspers in double figures. Monica Roeder finished with 13 points, while Shayna Ericksen had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Allison Skrec added nine points and seven assists, as the Jaspers handed out 22 assists on 26 field goals and committed just 14 turnovers.
