HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac's Jessica Fontaine scored in the 22nd minute to put the Bobcats on top to stay in a 1-0 victory over Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon in the Jaspers' final road game of the regular season.
Manhattan goalkeeper Kristen Skonieczny faced an early onslaught from Quinnipiac, stopping two shots within the span of a minute and a half early in the match. As the match remained scoreless past the 20-minute mark, Quinnipiac continued to keep the ball in the Manhattan end.
After a loose ball in the box, Fontaine pounced on it and snuck the ball into the back of the net to give Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead.
The Bobcats continued to hold onto a 1-0 lead to start the second half. After going without a shot on goal in the first half, Erica Modena fired five shots on net that Natalia Grodzki was able to stop in order to preserve the shutout.
Manhattan is back in action on Saturday, October 26 against Siena at 1 p.m. at Gaelic Park on Senior Day. Seniors Shannon Barry, Martine Diamond, Keara Hunt, Alex Iovine, Jordan Luithle, Maria Sanzari and Janie Schlauder will be honored prior to the contest.

Quinnipiac improves to 3-3-3 in the MAAC with the win, while the Jaspers are now 2-6-1 in the conference ... four of the Jaspers' six conference losses have been by one goal ... Manhattan is in ninth place, a point ahead of Canisius in the MAAC standings heading into the final day of the regular season on Saturday ... sophomore back Taylor Salkowsky returned to the lineup after missing the last four games due to injury.
