Scouting Report

Manhattan (2-12, 0-4 MAAC)

Manhattan returns to Draddy Gymnasium for its second MAAC contest of the weekend against Marist. The Jaspers have dropped their first two conference games of 2011, falling at Rider and to Loyola on Friday at Draddy Gymnasium.

The Jaspers are led by sophomore guard George Beamon who is averaging a team-high 15.3 points per game. The Roslyn, N.Y. native ranks fourth in the MAAC in scoring and rebounding (7.6 rpg). Beamon has five double-doubles and has four 20+ performances through 14 appearances this season.

Freshman forward Rhamel Brown has emerged as one of the Jaspers top defenders and offensive threats in the post. Brown is coming off a career-high 20 point performance against Loyola on Friday. The 6'6" product of Transit Tech High School in Brooklyn is the Jaspers' top rebounder. He ranks third in the MAAC with an 8.0 rebounding average. Brown is second  in the conference with 32 blocks. He has two double-doubles and has been the Jaspers most consistent shooter with a 50.6% field goal mark.

Demetrius Jemison and Kidani Brutus are averaging over nine points per game. Jemison has been a force down low, posting double-figures in three of his five starts this season. The graduate transfer from Alabama has averaged 6.8 rebounds per game and he grabbed a career-high 13 boards against Hofstra on Dec. 18. Brutus is the Jaspers top 3-point shooter as he has buried 25 of Manhattan's 49 field goals from downtown this year.

After Marist, the Jaspers travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to play Florida Atlantic, which will be their third game in five days. The contest was rescheduled for Jan. 11 due to the blizzard which hit New York City last week.

Marist (3-13, 2-2 MAAC)

Marist comes into Draddy Gymnasium after dropping seven of its last eight contests. Although, the Red Foxes boast a 2-2 conference record by picking up a pair of wins in Poughkeepsie during their first MAAC weekend of the season against Canisius and Niagara.

Junior guard R.J. Hall and sophomore guard Sam Prescott are Marist's top scorers 16 games into the season each averaging 9.8 points per contest. Adam Kemp, a 6'10" 235-pound freshman forward, leads the Red Foxes on the glass with 4.9 rebounds per contest, starting seven of nine appearances.

Marist has averaged 60.6 points per game, while yielding 74.3. The Red Foxes are the top free-throw shooting team in the MAAC with a 74.0% mark at the charity stripe. Red-shirt freshman Anell Alexis leads the conference shooting 88.5% at the line. Hall is sixth with a 80.6% free-throw percentage.

The Red Foxes embark on their fourth game this week, and they are coming off a 59-44 loss to Fairfield on Friday at the McCann Center. Marist's last victory was on Dec. 29, earning a 66-57 triumph at home over Penn.
