Manhattan (2-6)
Manhattan has slipped up in its last six games since opening the season with back-to-back wins over NJIT and Penn. The Jaspers are led in scoring by sophomore guard George Beamon who is averaging 12.9 points, going along with 7.1 rebounds per contest.
The Jaspers are ranked second in the MAAC with a 70.6% free-throw mark, a statistic which has been anchored by freshman point guard Michael Alvarado. The Bronx native leads the team and is fourth in the MAAC shooting 84.4% (38-45) from the charity stripe. Alvarado is second on the team averaging 12.1 points and leads the Jaspers with 2.9 assists per contest.
Freshman forward Rhamel Brown has been a dominant factor for Manhattan on the rebounding front as he is averaging a team-high 8.0 boards per contest. Brown is fourth in the league in rebounding and stands third with 2.0 blocks per game. He has scored 6.8 points per game this season and has two double-doubles.
Junior transfer Kidani Brutus is also averaging double-figures (10.0 ppg) for Manhattan and he leads the team with a 35.1% 3-point shooting mark. Brutus is a 78.6% free-throw shooter.
Fordham (3-4)
Fordham enters this contest winning two of its last three contests with victories coming over Hartford and most recently at Lehigh. The Rams are led by sophomore forward Chris Gaston who is the top rebounder in the Atlantic 10 with 13.6 rebounds per game, going along with a 15.9 scoring average. The 6'7", 220-pound product of Union City, N.J. also leads the team with 12 blocks, eight steals and is shooting 48.9% from the field.
The Rams have three more players averaging double-figures coming from red-shirt senior Brenton Butler (15.3 ppg), junior guard Alberto Estwick (13.4 ppg) and freshman guard Branden Frazier (11.7 ppg). As a team, the Rams are shooting 41.9% from the field and have outrebounded their opponents 40.6 rpg to 31.4 rpg.
Fordham first year head coach Tom Pecora has inherited four starters and eight letterwinners from last year's squad which posted a 2-26 record.
