Scouting Report

Manhattan (2-9)

Manhattan travels to Bowling Green looking to erase a nine game skid. The Jaspers opened the 2010-2011 campaign with back-to-back victories over NJIT and Penn, but have since struggled, due in part to an injury-ridden roster.

Sophomore guard George Beamon leads Manhattan in scoring and is ranked fifth in the MAAC with 14.3 points per game. Beamon is also one of the Jaspers most active players on the boards as he stands fifth in the conference with a 7.5 rebounding average. Beamon has posted four double-doubles, three 20-point performances, and he has scored in double-figures in nine of 11 appearances.

Graduate transfer Demetrius Jemison is averaging 10 points and 10 rebounds over the last two games, since he was recently deemed eligible by the NCAA after satisfying the requirements of a NCAA graduate transfer waiver. The 6'8", 240-pound forward who played three years at Alabama is coming off a career-high 13 point rebounding effort against Hofstra. Jemison has added a significant presence to the Jaspers' front line, joining freshman Rhamel Brown. Brown, a 6'6" 215-pound forward, excels on the defensive end of the court and ranks third in the MAAC in rebounding (8.4 rpg) and blocked shots (1.9 bpg). Brown is averaging 6.8 points and has two double-doubles this season.

Freshman point guard Michael Alvarado is the only Jasper to start all 11 games this season. Alvarado is averaging 12.5 points and leads the team with 3.4 assists per game. The local product from the Bronx is the Jaspers top free-throw shooter, boasting a 83.1% mark from the charity stripe. Alvarado has scored in double-figures six times, including a career-high 23 point effort in his debut against NJIT on Nov. 13.

Bowling Green (2-9)

Bowling Green has dropped eight of its last nine contests since earning its first victory over Ohio Dominican on Nov. 15. Both of the Falcons wins have come at home in Anderson Arena with its most recent victory coming against Florida International (76-67) on Dec. 12.

The Falcons are led in scoring by junior guard Dee Brown who is averaging 11.0 points. Brown, 6'3" 190-pound product of Detroit, Mich., has started nine of 11 contests and is shooting 41.6% from the field.

Junior forward Scott Thomas is the Falcons main inside presence. The 6'7", 205-pound junior was a 2010 All-MAC Honorable Mention after leading the team in scoring and steals last year. This season, Thomas holds a 10.5 scoring average and he leads the team with 6.4 rebounds per contest. He also leads Bowling Green with 15 3-pointers.

Bowling Green has averaged 59.2 points, while yielding 66.5 points per contest. The Falcons hold a 37.8% field goal mark, 25.8% rate from 3-point territory and 62.6% from the free-throw line.
