RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan College men's soccer team fell 7-0 in their season finale at Saint Peter's College Saturday afternoon.

Behind two goals and three assists from junior Harry Newman, the Peacocks (11-5-1, 7-1-1) jumped out to a 6-0 first half lead and never looked back on a beautiful afternoon at Jaroschak Field. In total, six different players scored and eight recorded at least one point.

For Manhattan (0-16-0, 0-9-0), the loss concludes a difficult season in which the Jaspers went winless on their 16-game slate.

Celebrating "Senior Day", Saint Peter's played 90-minutes of inspired soccer and proved to be one of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's finest teams, earning a No.2 seed in next week's MAAC Conference Championships with the victory.

In what was a truly impressive first half, the Peacocks scored in the 4th, 10th, 22nd, 34th, 40th and 45th minute to ensure victory in their final regular season contest. Sophomore Stephen Carty, Newman, senior Zabit Ahmati, junior Kevin Olsen and freshman Liam Tivenan each contributed at least one goal in the opening 45 minutes.

While the Jaspers were outshot 22-7, including 11-2 in shots on goal, they did show strong ball distribution and had several scoring chances of their own. Seven different players attempted at least one shot, with freshman Jake Donowick leading the way with two.

Learning to take small victories from difficult results, Manhattan allowed only one goal in the second half, on an unassisted putback in the 69th minute by Ahmati. It was his second of the game.

Between the pipes, Peacocks keeper Tyler Clarhaut made two saves for his third shutout of the year. On the other side, Jaspers freshman goaltender Christopher Lands finished a strong first season by logging three saves.

The final contest for five members of the men's soccer program, Manhattan said goodbye to seniors Sean Russell, Joshua Renner, Matt Gormley, Joseph Lorenz and Jake Ostrov.
