RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan returns to action on Sunday versus Fairfield (11-4, 4-1 MAAC) at the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn. Tip off is scheduled for 4 p.m. Fans can listen to all the action live at GoJaspers.com.
Manhattan (7-8, 2-3 MAAC) squares off with Fairfield for the 82nd time in program history. The Jaspers dropped their last two contests with the Stags, falling most recently 68-61 in the 2009 MAAC Tournament Quarterfinals at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. Jaspers' guard Darryl Crawford led all players with 21 points, and Chris Smith added 14. Manhattan also received seven points and seven rebounds from Andrew Gabriel. The Jaspers and Stags split their regular-season meetings last year with each squad holding serve on their home court. Manhattan earned a 65-60 victory on Jan. 26, 2009 behind 16 points apiece from Crawford and Smith at Draddy Gymnasium. Then on Feb. 27, 2009 Fairfield defeated the Jaspers 56-55 in Bridgeport, Conn. despite a 23 point performance from Crawford and Gabriel's double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds).
The Jaspers are coming off an exciting 76-53 victory over Saint Peter's on Friday night at Draddy Gymnasium. Rico Pickett led the way with 19 points, while Crawford and Brandon Adams chipped in 15 apiece. Adams led the rebounding effort with eight boards and Crawford tied a career-high with five assists.
