Riverdale, N.Y. -- The Manhattan College women's lacrosse team scored first in its season opener against Big East opponent University of Louisville, but then found itself on the short end of an 7-0 run by the Cardinals that proved too much to overcome as the Lady Jaspers lost the match 11-5.
Caralyn Hickey tallied two goals for the Lady Jaspers, and Tara Convery, Chrissy Gutenberger and Julia Lavelle chipped in with one goal each. Convery also had one assist and four turnovers, while teammate Keri Morrison had three caused turnovers and five ground balls. For
Six minutes into the second half, the Cardinals made it a 7-0 run before
Manhattan goalkeeper Allison Brown had nine saves on the day, while Louisville keeper Jen Heup had seven saves. Lousivlle outshot the Lady Jaspers 27-17.
The Lady Jaspers will now continue what will be a 10 game homestand next Sunday when it hosts
