Riverdale, N.Y. ? Manhattan traveled to take on Fairfield University today in a MAAC regular season game.  The Lady J's fell 3-0 despite a team high 10 kills from sophomore Rita Welsh.

In the first game, the Stages went up early 4-1.  But two kills by freshman Jaci Rahey helped Manhattan climb back to tie the game at 5.  The Lady Jaspers took the lead for a short while, but the Stags came back and went up 15-11.  It would be the closet Manhattan would come as Fairfield pulled away to take the first game 30-16.  In the second game, Manhattan trailed most of the game and found themselves facing a 10 point deficit down, 28-18.  The Lady J's were not going to go quietly due to the six kills between Sherryta Stokes and Rita Welsh, the girls scored eight consecutive points to cut the Stags' lead to one, 29-28.  But Fairfield scored the final point to end the Lady Jaspers' comeback and win the second game 30-28.  Fairfield now led the match 2-0 going into the third game.  In the third game, Manhattan kept it close in the beginning but Fairfield proved to be too strong as they went on to win the third game, 30-17 and the match 3-0.

Junior Alyssa Getzel led all players with 26 assists in the game to pace the Manhattan offense.  Fellow Junior Andrea Reiff led all Manhattan players with 18 digs on the day.

Manhattan will play their last two games of the 2007 season next weekend as Niagara University will come to Draddy Gym on Saturday November 10 to play at 2:00 p.m.  The Lady Jaspers will close out their season on Sunday November 11 as Canisius College will travel to Riverdale, the match will start at 11:30 a.m.
