(August 27, 2006)--Manhattan Men's Soccer held a 17-12 edge in shots, but unlike Robert Morris forward Jacek Przednowek, the Jaspers had trouble finding the back of the net. Przednowek, who was the 2005 NEC Tournament MVP, scored four times to propel the defending Northeast Conference Champion Colonials to a 6-1 win over Manhattan on Sunday afternoon at the North Athletic Complex.

Przednowek put Manhattan behind early as the striker scored his first in the fifth minute.

The Jaspers, however, would soon pull even when freshman mid-fielder Tony Safran put one past RMU goalkeeper Matt Felice for his first collegiate goal. The scoring play was generated from Daniel Cipriano's through ball into the box which found the feet of Safran in the 18th minute.

The 1-1 deadlock was short-lived as Przednowek struck again only 97 seconds after Safran tied the game by beating Manhattan keep Alex Sylvan with a shot into the left side of the net. Sylvan made a total of three saves on the afternoon.

After regaining the lead for the Colonials, Przednowek further separated the two sides with goals in the 34th minute and 47th minute.

The Jaspers return to the pitch against another NEC member, Monmouth University, on Friday, September 1 at 1:00 p.m. in West Long Brach, N.J.
