New Rochelle, N.Y. (April 28, 2006)- In the first of two semifinals at the MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship, top-seeded Le Moyne used pressure defense and timely scoring to advance to the MAAC Finals with a 14-6 win over fourth-seeded Manhattan this afternoon at Mazzella Field on the Iona College campus. The Lady Jaspers end their season with a 7-9 record.

The Dolphins came out of the gates quickly, scoring the first three goals of the game to take a 3-0 lead with 20:55 left in the first half.

Manhattan, the two-time defending MAAC Tournament Champions, would show its championship pedigree, as Brenna Tinari and Lauren Civardi would bring the Lady Jaspers within one, 3-2, with two tallies over a short 50 second span.

The two teams would trade the next two goals to make the score 4-3 Dolphins with 12:05 left before the break, before Le Moyne would score the lat three goals of the half to take a 7-3 lead into the locker room.

After Le Moyne scored to open the second half, Molly Pheterson and Alicia Psillos would each score to make the score 8-5, with 19:37 left, seemingly giving the Lady Jaspers the momentum as they would attempt to advance to the MAAC Final for the third straight season.

Good fortune would not shine on Manhattan today, though, as the Dolphins would score the next four goals to open up a 12-5 lead with 7:47 remaining, and six of the last seven on the way to a 14-6 final.

Pheterson and Psillos would each tally two goals, with Psillos adding an assist for a team-high three points. Tinari would record a goal and an assist, Civardi would chip in with one goal, and Jillian McGowan would record one assist.

Ashley Devins tallied a game-high 13 saves for Manhattan.
