Erma, N.J. (April 18, 2006)- Sophomore Chris Vieau had his best tournament of the Spring season, carding two of three rounds in the 70's to pace Manhattan to a ninth place finish at the Cape May Invitational, held at the par-71, 6,905 yard Cape May National Golf Course.
Niagara took home the team title with a team score of 910, with Purple Eagle Don Bryson taking home medalist honors, as he rode a one-under-par opening round tally of 70 to a three round total of 223.
Vieau opened with an 84, before putting together rounds of 76 and 79 (239) to place in a tie for 19th overall. Other finishers for Manhattan were George Calvi (87-78-83-248, T37th), Sean Oroho (82-87-81-250, 41st), James Marchewka (83-83-85-251, T42nd), and Scott Burton (88-98-91-277, 51st).
The Jaspers finished 18 total strokes behind MAAC rival Canisius for eighth, but outdistanced FDU by six strokes.
Manhattan concludes the regular season Tuesday, April 25, when the team takes part in the Saint Peter's Invitational in Neshantic Station, N.J. before closing out the season at the MAAC Championships April 28-30 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
