Riverdale, N.Y. - Lindsay Southard, Eryka Perreault, and Chanel Williamson all crossed the finish line within a ten-second span to propel Manhattan Women's Cross Country to a third place finish at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships on Friday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park. With a team score of 95, the Lady Jaspers finished behind only MAAC Champion Iona College (17) and Marist College (87).
Once again, Southard paced the Lady Jaspers by completing the 6K course in 22:54.3 for 10th place overall. Southard has now been Manhattan's top finisher in all but one race so far this season.
Junior Eryka Perreault and freshman Chanel Williamson stayed right with Southard throughout the entire race and finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Perreault clocked in at 23:00.4, while Williamson logged a time of 23:03.7. Williamson is the only Lady Jasper this year to finish ahead of her fellow freshman Southard as she was Manhattan's first finisher in a 3K dual meet with Iona on October 17.
Like Williamson and Southard, Manhattan's other two scorers were underclassmen. Freshman Mary Consiglio took 31st overall with her time of 24:09.1, while sophomore Melissa Trauscht closed out the team scoring by finishing in 37th place by logging a time of 24:15.0.
Senior Shannon Radermacher, who recently transferred into Manhattan from Michigan State University, managed to finish the 6K race in 24:22.4 for 39th overall.
Other finishers for the Lady Jaspers were Sarah Rogers (24:26.3), Lauren Natoli (24:50.3), Angela Bernarde (25:11.6), Julie Carr (25:35.1), Nicole Hallenback (26:30.1), and Jess Hamm (27:47.4).
The third place finish for Manhattan is an improvement over last year's fourth place result at the MAAC Championships.
