Riverdale, N.Y. -
Joe McElhoney,
Matt Kaftanski,
Tom Murphy, and
Scott Roman all set new personal records to help Manhattan Men's Cross Country place third at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships on Friday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park.
Todd Raymond, who just missed his personal best time by five seconds, was the Jaspers top finisher by placing tenth overall.
Raymond, a senior, logged a time of 26:01.7 for the 8K race to significantly lower Manhattan's team score of 96, which was bested by only Marist College (52) and nationally-ranked Iona College (17).
McElhoney, a junior, finished just 10 seconds off of Raymond's pace by completing the course in 26:11.7 for 12th place overall. The native of Beacon, N.Y. significantly surpassed his previous PR of 26:36.6, which he set earlier in the season at the Br. Paddy Doyle Meet of Champions.
Kaftanski (26:51.4) and Roman (27:16.9), who are both freshmen, finished 21st and 31st overall with their new personal bests. Finishing in between the two in 28th place was junior
Tom Murphy. Murphy logged a time 27:07.7.
Other finishers for the Jaspers were
Chris Breslin (27:58.1),
