Sunken Meadow, N.Y. (September 2, 2005)--Manhattan Cross Country opened the 2005 season today at the Stony Brook Invitational in Sunken Meadow, N.Y. The men's team finished fifth out of ten teams with a score of 123, while the women's squad finished sixth out of eleven schools with a score of 148.
Iona College captured both the men's and women's titles with scores of 28 on both sides.
Manhattan junior
Tyler Raymond finished second overall on the men's side with a time of 16:20 for the 5K race. Rounding out the Jaspers' Top Ten were freshman

Junior Ginine Lucarello paced the Manhattan women with a time of 21:45. After Lucarello, the Lady Jaspers' Top Ten, in order of finish, consists of senior Caryn Calpabo, freshman Sarah Rogers, freshman Eryka Perreault, freshman Melissa Trauscht, junior Marissa Olivieri, freshman Kathleen Bayer, freshman Anna Jankowski, freshman Ellen Dobin, and freshman Jessica Hamm.
Manhattan Cross Country will next be in action on September 10 as both the men and women will compete in the Fordham Invitational at Van Cortland Park. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
