Riverdale, N.Y. (September 17, 2005)--Manhattan Cross Country ran their second meet of the fall season on Saturday, as they participated in the Fordham Invitational at Van Cortland Park. The Lady Jaspers finished fourth out of nine schools in the 5K race with a score of 154, while the men placed seventh out of eleven teams in the 8K run with a score of 164.
Seven of the nine finishers on the women's side for Manhattan were freshmen, with freshman Ellen Dobbin registering a team-best 21:37.37 to claim the 25th spot overall. Freshman Angela Bernarde was the Lady J's next finisher at 30th overall with a time of 21:55.62. Other finishers for Manhattan are senior Nicholle Davis (22:06.06), freshman Julie Carr (22:14.32), freshman Jessica Hamm (23:00.04), sophomore Erin Gregorek (23:14.71), Alanna McVey (24:02.51), freshman Lauren Natoli (24:09.61), and Katie Horton (24:51.39). Winning the overall women's title was Stony Brook University's Leonora Joy, as her time of 18:02.91 helped Stony Brook claim the overall team title as well with a score of 32.

Josh Conklin was the top male finisher for the Jaspers, as he claimed the 27th spot overall at 29:31.48. Claiming the individual men's title was Fordham University's Matt Flynn with a time of 26:59.69. Capturing the men's team crown was Edinboro College with a score of 31. Finishing second was Fordham (64), followed by the University of Rhode Island (80), C.W. Post (112), Bryant College (145), University of New Haven (159), Manhattan (164), Southern Connecticut University (197), St. Rose (228), Pace University (261), and Molloy (Inc.).
Following Stony Brook in the women's race were Edinboro (33), Fordham (76), Manhattan (154), C.W. Post (158), New Haven (162), St. Rose (173), Bryant (178), and Pace (266).
Manhattan Cross Country returns to the course at Van Cortland Park next Saturday, as the Jaspers take part in the Iona Meet of Champions. The race begins at 9:30 a.m.
