Farmville, VA (April 3, 2005)-The women's lacrosse team lost to the Longwood Lancers 15-7 at Lancer Field this afternoon. Junior
Molly Pheterson led the Jaspers scoring three goals. Manhattan's record is now 0-5-0 overall.
Pheterson scored the first goal of the game just 30 seconds into the match to take a 1-0 lead. The Lady J's could not keep the lead for very long as the Lady Lancers scored four goals in a row before Manhattan's senior
Victoria Carman would score off a free position shot at the 20:41 mark, 4-2.
After another goal by the Lancers, Pheterson scored her second goal of the game with 3:03 left to play in the half decreasing Longwood's lead by two goals. After a goal by senior
Mary Dudek the Lancers led by one. This is the closest the Jaspers would get to tying the game. With under a minute left to play in the first half Longwood would score one more goal, 6-4.
In the second half, Longwood came out scoring five goals in under 12 minutes taking an 11-4 lead. At the 45:25 mark Dudek finally got Manhattan up on the board with an unassisted goal. Just 1:03 seconds later Carman scored her second goal of the game, 11-6. The Lancers scored two more goals before Pheterson scored her final goal of the game with under three minutes to play in regulation. With under one minute left to play Longwood scored two more goals to win, 15-7.

Ashley Devins finished the game with 13 saves.
The Lady Jaspers play again on Thursday, April 7 at 3:30 p.m. at Gaelic Park against Central Connecticut.
