Baltimore, MD (February 6, 2005)- Manhattan rallied from a 16 point second half deficit to trail by just three, 71-68, with 1:58, but could not complete the comeback, falling to the Loyola Greyhounds, 77-70, this afternoon at Reitz Arena on the Loyola campus. Senior Peter Mulligan led all scorers with 23 points, including 15-17 from the free throw line. The Jaspers fall to 10-11 on the season, 5-8 in MAAC play.

Down 16, 48-32, with 16:05 to play in the game, Manhattan began to chip away at the Loyola lead, eventually using a 16-5 run to turn a 14 point deficit, 66-52, into just a three point deficit, 71-68, with 1:58 to play, capped by two Mulligan free throws. But the Greyhounds made six-of-eight free throws down the stretch to emerge with the win.

The two teams played even to open the game, as the game saw six ties and nine lead changes over the first 8:52 of the game before Loyola used an 7-0 run to take a six point lead, 26-20, with 6:26 left before the break. Manhattan score the game's next five points to pull within one, 26-25, with 4:55 left before halftime, but the Greyhounds score 14 of the final 17 points of the first half to go into halftime with a 40-28 lead.

Manhattan made just 13-25 first half free throws (31-48 overall), connected on just 1-13 from beyond the arc, and was out rebounded 49-25.

CJ Anderson tallied his second straight double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds. Arturo Dubois chipped in with 10 points and three blocks.

Linton Hinds led four Greyhounds in double figures with 18 points, while Shane James added 15 points, Freddie Stanback chipped in 13, and Bernard Allen tallied a double-double of his own with 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.

Manhattan returns to action on Friday, February 11, when the Jaspers host MAAC foe Rider at 7:00 p.m. at Draddy Gym.
