New Rochelle, NY (February 4, 2005)- Greg Jenkins had a rebound and lay-in with four-tenths of a second left to lift Iona to a 55-53 victory over Manhattan Friday night. CJ Anderson tallied a double double with 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for the Jaspers.

In a game that saw 13 ties and five lead changes, neither team could gain control early, as the score was knotted at nine with 13:19 left in the opening stanza before Iona used an 11-4 run to open up a seven point lead, 20-13, with 9:32 remaining in the first half. The Gaels were able to extend the lead to 11, 30-19, 3:38 before the break before Manhattan closed the half with a 4-0 run to go into the locker room down seven, 30-23.

The Jaspers opened the second half by extending their run to 13-0, running off the first nine points of the second half to take a two point lead, 32-30, with 16:57 left in the game. Iona responded with an 8-0 run to regain a six point lead, 38-32, with 13:31 left, and neither team would lead by more than four the rest of the way, as the last 8:45 saw five ties and two lead changes.

Manhattan trailed by four, 53-49, with less than a minute remaining when Jason Wingate stole the ball at midcourt and was intentionally fouled with 48 seconds left. Wingate converted one of two and Jeff Xavier connected on a three pointer on the ensuing possession to knot the score at 53 with 44 ticks left, setting up Jenkins' winning shot.
