Littlestown, Pa. (October 23, 2005)- The Jasper linksmen competed in the St. Mary's Fall Classic over the weekend at the par-72, 7042-yard Quail Valley Golf Course in Littlestown, Pa. Manhattan placed eighth with a team score of 681. James Marchewka and Adam Minbiole each paced the Jaspers with two round scores of 169.
Host Saint Francis-Pa. took home the team title after posting a two-day team score of 608, while Monmouth's Anthony Campanile earned medalist honors after carding a 148 for the tournament.
The Jaspers were the only school to improve its team score from the first day to the second, as Manhattan improved 21 strokes on Day 2 after opening the competition with a team round of 351.
Marchewka (86-83-169) and Minbiole (89-80-169) each placed in a tie for 33rd, while
Chris Vieau (88-82-170) finished right behind the lead duo in a tie for 35th.
Scott Burton (88-85-173) completed the tournament in a tie for 40th, and
Sean Oroho (90-89-179) rounded out the Jasper quintet with a 44th place finish.
This match competed Manhattan's fall season. The Jaspers begin the spring season at the MAAC/Iona Pinehurst Invitational, March 16-19.
