GONZALEZ WINS 100TH AS MEN'S BASKETBALL CRUISES PAST NORTH DAKOTA ST., 89-47

Riverdale, NY (January 5, 2005)- Manhattan head coach Bobby Gonzalez won his 100th career game in fine fashion as Peter Mulligan led five players in double figures with 15 points as Manhattan defeated North Dakota State, 89-47, tonight at Draddy Gym. Gonzalez is just the fourth Manhattan men's coach to reach the milestone, and he accomplished the feat in the second fewest amount of games. Manhattan improves to 6-4 with the win, while the Bison fall to 4-9.

After North Dakota State's David Erbes scored the game's opening bucket, Manhattan sandwiched runs of 10-0 and 23-2 around two Myron Green layups to open up a 33-8 lead with 8:17 remaining before the half. The Jaspers would extend the lead to as many as 33, 51-18, with 52 seconds remaining before the break and went into the locker room with a 53-21 lead.

The two teams played even for most of the second half as Manhattan emptied its bench. The Jaspers never allowed the lead to fall under 28 points and the lead never swelled beyond 42 points as 10 of the 11 dressed Jaspers tallied at least two points at all 11 tallied at least one rebound.

CJ Anderson (14 points, five rebounds, three assists), Mike Konovelchick (13 points, four assists), Jason Wingate (12 points, four assist, four steals), and Arturo Dubois (11 points, five rebounds) joined Mulligan in double figures for Manhattan. Jeff Xavier added nine points in his first collegiate start, Guy Ngarndi tallied seven points, six rebounds, and three blocks, and Mihai Enescu pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Green tallied game-highs of 16 points and eight caroms to lead North Dakota State, and was joined in double figures by Andy Kelchen, who recorded 12 points and six rebounds.

Manhattan completes a stretch that saw the team play six out of nine game on the road when the Jaspers return to MAAC play by traveling to Poughkeepsie, NY to battle Marist on Sunday, January 9. Tipoff is slated for 4:00 p.m.
