MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES 20TH AT PAUL SHORT INVITATIONAL

Bethlehem, PA (September 25, 2004)- The Manhattan men's cross country team placed 20th out of 36 schools competing in the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University. Georgetown took the team crown on the men's side while Tennesse was the victorious team in the women's competition.

Tyler Raymond was the top finisher for the Jaspers, placing 74th with a time of 25:26. Todd Raymond (25:46) and Matt Reilly (25:51) followed closely behind to round out the top three on the men's side.

For the women, who competed in open competition, Ginine Lucarello was the top Manhattan finisher, placing 64th with a time of 24:16. Caryn Capalbo (24:48) finished a second ahead of Eryka Perreault (24:49), with Julie Lamiquiz (24:58) also finishing in the top 100 for the Lady Jaspers.

The overall winner on the men's side was Joshua McDougal of Liberty as he crossed the finish line in a time of 23:43.53. Georgetown took the team crown for the second consecutive year as the Hoyas scored 94 points. Villanova, Auburn, La Salle, Yale, Penn, Princeton, William and Mary, Penn State and St. Joe's rounded out the top-ten.

On the women's side, Angela Homan of Auburn crossed the finish line in a time of 20:27.39 to win the individual crown, while the Lady Volunteers of Tennessee won the team title with 53 points. Villanova, Columbia, William and Mary, Georgetown, Buffalo, Yale, Richmond, La Salle and Auburn rounded out the top-ten for the women.

Manhattan returns to action on Friday, October 1, when the team will host the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park. The first race is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
