New Haven, CT (September 24, 2004)- For the second time this week, Manhattan defeated Wagner 3-0 (30-17, 30-27, 30-23). In the first day of the Courtyard by Marriott at Yale Classic, the Lady Jaspers overcame a .424 hitting percentage by Wagner in the second game to take a 2-0 lead in the match before closing out the Seahawks in the third game.
While Wagner hit .424 in the second game, Manhattan (3-10) posted a .415 hitting percentage in that game and hit .242 for the match, led by 10 kills from Helena Ward, who hit for a .500 percentage. Lori Bambauer handed out 35 assists to go along with nine digs and five kills. Allison O'Neill and Ashley Davis rounded out a balanced Manhattan lineup, leading the Lady Jaspers with 11 digs apiece.
Molly Judge posted a match-high 15 kills for Wagner (2-14), and registered a double-double by totaling 20 digs. Kerry Krohn also chipped in with 14 digs and eight kills.
The Lady Jaspers will resume round-robin play tomorrow, Saturday, September 25th at noon to play the first of two matches on the day. Manhattan will take on Sacred Heart in its first match before facing Yale in the tournament finale at 6:00 p.m.
