The Jaspers plated two runs in the top of the first to grab an early, 2-0, lead. After back-to-back singles by Frank Cappello and Nick Derba began the game for Manhattan, Cappello scored on an error by the Marist (9-19, 5-4 MAAC) second baseman on a fielder's choice off the bat of John Fitzpatrick. After a single by Matt Cucurullo, Josh Greco doubled home Fitzpatrick with the Jaspers' second run of the inning.

The Red Foxes knotted the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the second on an two-RBI single by Tyler Brock.

In the decisive fourth inning, an RBI groundout by John Maser began the scoring, before Gary Diaz scored on a passed ball. Fitzpatrick's RBI sacrifice fly plated Cappello, and Cucurullo's RBI double brought home Sam Deluca for a 6-2 advantage.

An RBI single by Gary Gaskin scored Josh Greco in the seventh to complete the scoring.

After the second, Cody allowed only two Marist runners to advance into scoring position until giving way to Steve Bronder in the ninth.

Cody (2-0) scattered five hits over his eight innings of work, and allowed just three hits, all singles, in his final six innings on the mound. All seven Marist hits were singles.

Lucas Robinson (2-3) absorbed the loss for Marist, allowing six runs, three earned, over 3.2 innings.
