Lawrenceville, NJ (February 29, 2004) - With one free throw by Leanne Moore and a Kara Borel jumper with 11 seconds left the Broncs dropped Manhattan, 63-60. The Lady Jaspers fell in their last game of the regular season, and dropped to 10-17 overall and 6-12 in the MAAC. Senior
Rosalee Mason tallied a game high 24 points and 18 rebounds in the loss.
In the first half, the Lady Jaspers led for much of the half, but a Becky Hower jumper with 32 seconds remaining sent the teams into the half locked at 28. Freshman
Michelle Bernal-Silva led the way for Manhattan, recording eight first half points.
Senior
Rosalee Mason tallied 14 straight Manhattan points, putting the Lady Jaspers up 47-44 at the 11:46 mark. With 10 consecutive free throws and a Leanne Moore jumper, the Broncs took the lead 58-56 with five minutes remaining. The Lady Jaspers fought back again, and tied the game at 58 on a
Donnette Reed jumper. One minute later, Mason knocked down two free throws resulting in Manhattan's last points of the game. After a Leanne Moore free throw with 1:06 remaining, Kara Borel knocked down a jumper to seal the victory and give the Broncs the 63-60 win.
Bernal-Silva joined Mason in double figures with 11 points, adding five rebounds. Moore, Becky Hower and Katie Hall all recorded double digits in points for Rider.
The Lady Jaspers finished the MAAC regular season in eighth place and will head to Albany, NY on Thursday to compete in the 2004 MAAC Tournament, where they will face #7 Fairfield at 2:15 pm.
