LADY JASPERS DROP CLOSE CONTEST TO LOYOLA, 60-59

Riverdale, NY (February 15, 2004) - With seconds remaining, junior Donnette Reed's last second layup missed with time expiring and the Lady Jaspers lost by one point to MAAC rival Loyola 60-59. The Lady Jaspers drop their eighth straight game in a row and fall to 8-14 overall and 4-10 in the conference. Senior Rosalee Mason posted game-highs in points (22) and rebounds (16).

After Manhattan tied the game at 13 at the 13:11 mark, the Greyhounds led for the entire first half, closing the half ahead by ten points by a score of 36-26. After Manhattan tied the game at 13, the Greyhounds went on a 10-0 run, ending the run on two free throws by Lauren Troupe, making the score 23-13.

The Lady Jaspers sprung for a 12-0 run to bring them ahead by three, capped by two free throws by Mason at the beginning of the second half, making the score 43-40 at the 14:11 mark. Lindsay Cobb nailed a three pointer to make the score 43-43 for Loyola, who would capture the lead with a Meghan Wood three point play as the Greyhounds held the lead for a little over four minutes. Reed tallied two points to go ahead at the 8:08 mark, 51-49. The Lady Jaspers held that lead until a combination of a Lindsay Cobb jumper and a Jill Henn three-pointer put Loyola ahead by three with one minute remaining. Nikoletta Deutsch then tallied a layup with 37 seconds left to bring Manhattan within one, 60-59. Manhattan's defense stopped the Greyhounds from extending their lead, and with 3.7 seconds left, Mason grabbed a rebound and found Donnette Reed for the last second attempt, but the layup rimmed out and Loyola grabbed the one point victory over Manhattan, 60-59.

Nikoletta Deutsch tallied 12 points and three rebounds and Donnette Reed recorded 10 points and five rebounds in the loss.

Lindsay Cobb tallied a team-high 20 points to lead the Greyhounds to their 11th victory and seventh conference victory.

The Lady Jaspers will be back in action Tuesday, February 17 against St. Peter's at the Draddy Gymnasium at 7 pm.
