CJ Anderson tallied a team-high 22 points, his most in a Manhattan uniform, but the Jaspers fell at nationally ranked Arizona, 105-75, tonight at Olson Court at the McKale Center on the Arizona campus.
The Wildcats scored the first seven points of the game and raced to a 31-10 lead with 10:35 left in the first half. Salim Stoudamire connected on five first half three's to lead Arizona into the break with a 57-29 lead.
Manahattan shot 52.0% (13-25) in the first half, but committed 15 turnovers in the opening stanza, while Arizona shot 60.0% (21-35) in the opening half, including 8-13 from beyond the arc.
Manhattan came out and played even with the Wildcats in the second half, as the second half score was 48-46 in favor of Arizona.
Joining Anderson in double figures were
Arturo Dubois (18 points, three blocks) and
Peter Mulligan (15 points, team-high seven rebounds).
Stoudamire led all scorers with 23 points, including seven three pointers.
Manhattan returns to action on Thursday, December 30, when the Jaspers host Wisconsin-Milwaukee at 7:00 p.m. at Draddy Gym.
