Riverdale, NY (October 9, 2004)- The Manhattan volleyball team fell to the Pittsburgh Panthers, 3-1 by scores of 30-24, 30-16, 28-30, 30-25, winning the third game and bringing the match into the fourth game. Junior Maggie Pfeifer (Liberty, MO) led the team with 17 kills, 2 errors and a .417 hitting percentage. Junior Ashley Davis (Naperville, IL) led the team in digs with 22.

Pittsburgh (11-5) got off to a quick start in the first game. Abby Fechhelm had a team high 7 digs and recorded a .400 hitting percentage during the first game, helping Pittsburgh keep Manhattan only within six points.

The Panthers dominated the second game, earning the first point and never losing the lead. Megan McGrane led the team in digs with 13, while Gini Ullery led the offense with six kills and a .308 hitting percentage.

Manhattan (4-15) responded in the third game, beating the Panthers by two points. The biggest lead of the game was when the Lady J's took a three point lead. Pfeifer led the offense with seven kills and a .636 hitting percentage while Davis came up with eight digs in game three.

The fourth game was neck and neck for most of the game until the end when the Panthers took a five point lead ending the game, 30-25. Miller led the team in game four with nine kills, while teammate Gini Ullery smacked down seven. Both Pfeifer and senior Helena Ward (Stockholm, Sweden) earned four kills.

The Lady Jaspers play again on Tuesday, October 12 against Long Island University at 7 p.m. in Brooklyn, NY.
