Baltimore, MD (October 17, 2004) - Loyola senior Kevin Nash scored two goals while Frank Spanos and Mark Donnelly chipped in with one apiece as Loyola earned a 4-1 win over Manhattan on Sunday afternoon at Alumnae Field.

Four minutes into the contest, sophomore Omar Alfonso found Spanos with a behind-the-back heel pass and the freshman blasted home his third goal of the season.

Nash doubled the Loyola lead in the 10th minute when he settled an errant ball outside the 18. Looking to pass, Nash found himself open and fired a low line-drive just inside the far post.

In the 42nd minute, Alfonso controlled the ball at the near post and fed Nash, who tapped in his team-leading fifth goal of the year.

Manhattan answered with a goal in the 44th minute as Brian Lundy finished a scramble in front of the net to go into halftime down two, 3-1.

A physical second half with cautions on each side resulted in a beautiful goal from Donnelly in the 52nd minute.

The goal, which came on sophomore Rade Kokovic's direct kick, was played off of Donnelly's head and re-directed away from Manhattan goalie Collin Leaver, who had no chance at the perfectly placed ball.

Leaver, however, redeemed himself with a very nice save only 45 seconds later when Kokovic fired a high shot from the 18. Leaver was able to extend and get a hand on the ball, knocking over the cage.

In Loyola's goal, sophomore Justin Chelland finished with two saves, running his record as a starter to 3-0-1 this season. The Greyhounds finished with a heavy shot advantage, taking 15 to Manhattan's seven.

Manhattan is back in action on Friday, October 22, when the Jaspers host Niagara in a MAAC match slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
