Philadelphia, PA (September 7, 2003)- Paul Ordway scored the game-winning goal late in the second half as Philadelphia University defeated Manhattan College, 1-0, today in the final game of the St. Joseph's Hawks Classic in Philadelphia, PA. The loss drops the Jaspers record to 1-2-0.
Ordway tallied his marker at the 81:18 mark of the game. Ram sophomore Chris Williams made a strong throw-in to the far post. Freshman Franco Ruscetta then touched the ball on to Ordway, who delivered the game-winner, beating Jasper goalkeeper Collin Leaver (Encinitas, CA). The Rams outshot Manhattan 22-5, including 15-3 in the second half.
Leaver recorded seven saves on the day, while Scott Nixon stopped all four shots he faced for Philadelphia.
Leaver and Eugene Reynolds (Avon, NJ) were named to the All-Tournament team.
Manhattan is back in action Saturday, September 13, when the Jaspers travel to Orono, ME to take on the Maine Black Bears. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
