Miami, FL- (August 29, 2003)-The Lady Jaspers (0-1) fell to number 26th ranked Miami (1-0) tonight at the Miami Invitational in three games, 30-23, 30-18, and 30-25, in their first match of the season.
The Hurricanes posted a .415 attack percentage on 106 total attack attempts to sweep the Jaspers in three games. Sophomore setter Margie Young had a game-high 37 assists for the Hurricanes along with two service aces. Also for Miami, junior Biz Tyson totaled 12 kills and senior Leyre Santaella Sante posted a .529 hitting percentage with 10 kills.
Despite the loss, senior captain Goedele 'Luka' Van Cauteren, recorded a triple-double with 15 kills, 17 assists and 13 digs, with a .462 hitting average. Sophomore outside hitter Megan O'Dorisio put forth a strong effort with 11 kills and .323 hitting average.
The Lady Jaspers will continue in the Miami Invitational tomorrow in two games, first at 9 a.m against Indiana University and second, at 4 p.m. against Kent State University.
