SWIMMING WINS SIXTH IN A ROW, DEFEATING ST. JOSEPH'S, 111-89

Patchogue, NY (December 4, 2003)- The women's swim team improved to 7-3 on the season with their sixth straight dual meet victory, defeating St. Joseph's, 111-89, behind four victories each from Courtney Arduini and Sarah Szotak. Arduini broke another school record in winning the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:03.03.

The previous record of 1:03.35, set in 1992 by Danielle Gelsomino '95, was bested by Arduini as the Lady Jaspers won 13 of the 14 events contested. Arduini also took home first place in the 50 back, and the 200 medley and 200 free relays.

Szotak was also a member of the winning 200 medley and 200 free relays teams, and added wins in the 100 fly and 50 fly as the team tied the school record for wins in a semester (7) set in the 2001-02 season fall semester.

The team returns to the pool on Sunday, January 25, when they travel to Brookville, NY to take on CW Post and NJIT at 1:00 p.m.
