THE LADY JASPERS' SECOND HALF EFFORT FALLS SHORT, 67-58

Riverdale, NY (December 28, 2003) - Despite a late run, the Lady Jaspers fell to Wagner at Draddy Gym by a score of 67-58. Manhattan drops its fifth straight game of the season and falls to 3-5 overall. Junior Serra Sangar led the way for the Lady Jaspers with 15 points, and three rebounds.

In the first half the score went back and forth until the Wagner Seahawks took the lead at the 9:40 mark, 17-15, then surged onto a 10-5 run, making the score 27-20 with 6:08 left to go in the half. Wagner managed to hold onto the lead at the half, despite a 6-2 run by the Lady Jaspers, who pulled within four, 32-28, at the break.

Wagner jumped out to a 10-2 run, adding onto their lead, making it 44-30, four minutes into the second half. The Lady Jaspers would string together a run of their own, holding the Seahawks scoreless for over five minutes of play, capitalizing with eight points during the string closing within one at 51-50 at the 4:08 mark. Wagner held off the late charge however, and went on a 9-0 run, eventually capturing the 67-58 victory.

Leading the way for the Seahawks was Carrie Walker who posted a game-high 26 points and 11 rebounds, along with Ashley Linscott who tallied 23 points.

The Lady Jaspers will be back in action when they head to Lewisberg, Pennsylvania to face Bucknell on Friday, January 2 at 7 pm.
