MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO RIDER ON PENALTY KICKS AT MAAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Lake Buena Vista, FL (November 5, 2003)- The tenth-seeded Rider Broncs advanced to the quarterfinals of the Jet Blue MAAC Championships by virtue of a 4-3 penalty kick win over seventh-seeded Manhattan College today at the Disney World Wide World of Sports Complex.

After playing to a scoreless tie during regulation and two overtimes, the game went to penalty kicks to decide who would advance to play second-seeded Fairfield in the quarterfinal round.

Manhattan's Antonio Treglia began the first round of penalty kicks by putting his shot past Rider goalkeeper Brian Gill. Jason Brockman converted his shot for the Broncs to tie the penalty kick session at 1-1 after the first round of kicks.

In the second round, Robert Tedesco converted for the Jaspers, and Manhattan goalkeeper Collin Leaver stopped Christopher Trump's shot to give the Jaspers a 2-1 lead.

Tommy Lenhardt was next up for Manhattan, but Gill was up to the task, and the Broncs tied the PK session at 2-2 when Adam Bailey found the back of the net to end the third round.

Manhattan's Brian Lundy and Rider's Chris Hilinski both converted in the fourth round, setting up the fifth and final round.

Jasper Anthony Cacciola missed wide left on his shot, and Brian Laurinaitis converted for Rider to advance to Broncs to the next round.

Leaver made 11 saves to cap off a fine freshman season in net for Manhattan, while Gill stopped one shot for Rider. The Broncs held a 14-6 advantage in shots.

Manhattan ends its season with a 4-11-3 record (3-4-2 MAAC).
