Rosalee Mason was named Tournament MVP, tallying her second double-double of the tournament with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Senior
Nikoletta Deutsch joined Mason on the All-Tournament team adding 16 points, and four rebounds against Florida Atlantic.
In the first half, Manhattan jumped out to an early lead, going on a 7-0 run. The Lady Jaspers led by as many as 16 points in the first half. In the second half, Manhattan continued its good streak recording four quick points by
Serra Sangar and
Danielle Cooper. Florida Atlantic soon made a push, going on an 15-0 run, holding the Lady Jaspers to no field goals for seven minutes, and pulled within two points of Manhattan, 70-68. The Lady Jaspers held off Florida Atlantic, with baskets by Mason and Cooper, making the lead 74-70 and securing the victory. Manhattan would finish the scoring for the day with a Deutsch free throw, making the final score 75-70.
Junior
Serra Sangar recorded 14 points and eight rebounds and freshman
Danielle Cooper tallied 16 points and four assists for the Lady Jaspers. Junior
Donnette Reed added nine points and 10 assists in the win.
Florida Atlantic All-Tournament member, Shontavia Williams who notched 16 points, six rebounds, and four steals, led the Lady Raiders. Trineca McLeod added 14 points and four rebounds in the loss.
Manhattan will start MAAC play next week, beginning Thursday, December 4 against Fairfield University, and they will finish the weekend in Baltimore, MD against Loyola on Sunday, December 7 at 2 pm.
